Last year, we raised almost $17,000 from 70 donors for the young company scholarship program. Please join us again this year in raising $20,000 to help make our theatre education program affordable and accessible to all children.
Professional designers, dramaturges, and educators teach our young company members, ages 8-18, important life skills using theatre and acting skills. The young company builds confidence, effective communication tactics, public speaking skills, while also teaching students how to use humor throughout life. Most importantly, the young company, as expressed by one participant, "gives me the opportunity to learn in a supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere."
We have endless stories from children and parents that recount how the skills learned in the young company are applied to life outside the theatre. Sharon Naaroff writes "my daughter seems able to take artistic risk and really puts herself out there-completely and without inhibitions."
Another parents writes, "she is a shy, hidden gem with great potential, and her self-confidence and abilities have increased dramatically as a result of the supportive atmosphere of the young company."
Your support helps assists some of the 180 children that participate in the 4-week summer young company festival and make it possible for them to experience the transformative power of theatre in a safe and welcoming environment.
