In Stoneham Theatre's 2007-2008 Season, we spent approximately $1.5 million. Two thirds went directly towards producing and marketing our shows. Almost all of this money—from more than $70,000 in advertising, to $30,000 in carpenters, from $22,000 in costumes to $9,000 in programs—gets spent locally in Massachusetts. Stoneham Theatre employs a full-time staff of a dozen theatre artists, technicians and administrators and more than 50,000 people visit our theatre, gallery, rehearsal halls and classrooms every year.
While we enjoy considerable support from the community in terms of ticket sales, tuitions and corporate underwriting, we receive very little funds from government sources and count on individual patrons to donate roughly $100,000 a year, or 7% of our entire budget.
